Gomoti Plains Camp
Gomoti Plains Camp: Our View
Gomoti Plains Camp is a really slick and professional operation indeed. The level of service, food and guiding is outstanding. In fact we are of the view that Gomoti Plains Camp is on a par with some of the luxury top end Camps we have stayed at in The Okavango Delta - which is impressive when you consider that it is quite a bit cheaper.
Gomoti Plains Camp is a fairly new camp located in a pristine and wild private concession in the Gomoti Area in the South of the Okavango Delta. This is next to the prestigious Chitabe Concession which is considered to have some of the best game viewing in Botswana. And it looks like the Gomoti Region is going to be just as good!
The 10 tented rooms at Gomoti Plains Camp are spacious and have everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The camp is in a spectacularly scenic location overlooking floodplains dotted with palm trees as well as a tributary of the main Gomoti River.
As Gomoti Plains Camp is in a private concession rather than a National Park, it is possible to go ‘off road’ on game drives and also to do night drives and Walking Safaris. For much of the year it should be possible to do Mokoro and boat trips as well - making it a good choice for clients looking for an inclusive Safari at one camp.

Gomoti Plains Camp: The Details
Gomoti Plains Camp is the sort of camp we love. It is a classic tented camp but with a modern, smart feel. It has enough facilities to give clients an extremely comfortable stay without being flashy or over the top. The whole ambience is one of stylish but understated luxury.
The 10 rooms on slightly raised wooden decks are totally tented. Most of them have lovely views onto the seasonal river in front of the camp.
The rooms at Gomoti Plains Camp are spacious, with a comfy sofa in front of the bed, bedside cabinets with large reading lamps, and a stand up fan which will help to keep things cool in summer. The bathroom area is at the back of the tent and can be closed off from the bedroom with a large canvas screen if needed. As well as the toilet there is an indoor and outdoor shower and His and Hers wash basins. Some nice extra features include power points in the rooms which allow you to charge low power items like phones, laptops or cameras. At the front of each tent there is a small outside deck area with day bed and chairs to relax on and admire the stunning views.
The whole aim of Gomoti Plains is to bring clients as close to nature as possible at all times and the widely spaced apart tented rooms here achieve that brilliantly, allowing clients to experience the sights, sounds and smells of Africa. Like most camps in the Okavango Delta, Gomoti Plains Camp is totally unfenced. So wild animals can be roaming through the camp at any time of the day or night!
The main lounge/dining area is also tented and overlooks the river, which is close by. It is elegant and well furnished with large comfy sofas and is spacious enough to not feel crowded, even when the camp is fully booked. Outside is a wooden deck area with more seating. In front of the lounge tent there is a neat sandy area where the Boma fire is lit at night and in the early morning for breakfasts. This leads down to the river where the moored Mokoros allow for some classic Okavango Delta photo opportunities!
A reasonably large swimming pool will give welcome relief in the hot summer months. A well stocked curio shop completes the facilities here.
But it is the game viewing of course that people come to The Okavango Delta in Botswana for. In this respect Gomoti Plains Camp does not disappoint. The area around camp is diverse and beautiful. The Gomoti River flows through the concession, which allows for a year round source of water. The area really is idyllic and peaceful. The Gomoti area attracts a wide range of African wildlife, including Elephant, Buffalo, many cats, antelope, the endangered African Wild Dog, and even the occasional Rhino.
The ability to go ‘off road’ in this private concession allows the guides to get really close to wildlife. For clients who only have time for one camp in the Okavango Delta, Gomoti Plains Camp is a good choice, as clients get a superb all round African Safari experience in one camp. One of the real highlights of our stay at Gomoti Plains Camp was the quality of the guiding. The guide we had was probably one of the best we have experienced on our many visits to Safari Camps in Botswana.
For clients looking for high quality service and accommodation, as well as a superb Wilderness Safari experience, Gomoti Plains really is a very good choice at the upper end of the market.
