As you fly into the area, you will see the wide Zambezi River, dotted with islands. Buffalo and elephant are always seen feeding along with the pods of hippos that rest on the edge of the sandbanks.

Arrive at Sausage Treat Camp and settle into your room. Enjoy a late lunch before you head out for your first game activity. Activities are extremely flexible and you will have a choice between game drives, game walks, boat cruises, canoeing and fishing (extra cost applies).

Day 2 to 4: Game Viewing in the Lower Zambezi National Park

The following three days will give you many opportunities to enjoy all the activities that are on offer.

Sausage Tree Camp offers some of the finest game viewing in natural habitats anywhere in Africa. Its location within the Lower Zambezi National Park on the banks of the Zambezi River means that game viewing activities take place both on the water, by boat and canoes, and on the land by four-wheel drive game viewing vehicles or on foot (bush walks). Game viewing in the pristine Lower Zambezi National Park is superb and big game, such as elephant, hippo, buffalo and the big cats are even seen regularly in and around the camp.

The camp is well equipped with game viewing vehicles, boats and canoes allowing us to easily cater to the personal and individual needs of all its guests.

Alternatively you may also opt to just relax inside the camp surrounded by the African Bush.

Accommodation: Sausage Tree Camp (incl. all meals, drinks, activities)

Day 5: Light Aircraft Transfer (via Lusaka) to South Luangwa National Park, Luangwa River Camp (4 nights)

Today a light aircraft transfer will take you first back to Lusaka and from there you will fly to Mfuwe Airport. You will again be met by a representative and transferred to Luangwa River Camp situated in the South Luangwa National Park.

The South Luangwa National Park marks the end of the Great Rift Valley, one of the last remaining unspoilt wilderness areas and possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa. The meandering Luangwa River and large plains, play host to huge concentrations of game including elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe, hippo and over 450 species of birds.

Luangwa River Camp sits nestled under an ancient ebony grove on the banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the game rich area known as the Luangwa Wafwa.

Depending on your arrival time you may settle in for some lunch, siesta then off on an afternoon activity. There is an option to turn back after sundowners or continue to see what nocturnals you can spot, returning to camp by 8pm.

Day 6 to 8: Exploring the South Luangwa National Park

The following three full days will be spent as you wish. Nothing is set in stone; you can discuss your specific interests with your guide.

Various options are at your disposal: enjoy a game walk, game drive or boating (seasonal). For those interested in local crafts, a shopping trip to Tribal Textiles may be a good choice. Here locally printed fabrics are sewn into various items – perfect for souvenirs or gifts for friends and family. Alternatively a trip to Kawaza Village to experience an authentic Zambian village, interact with the locals and even sample a local meal, will give visitors more insight into local customs.
