Balloon Flights over the Okavango Delta
Posted on 25th February 2016
After some teething issues and delays last year, it finally seems to happen…
To experience a balloon safari in the Okavango Delta, a minimum of one night’s stay needs to be booked at one of the camps located in the flying area. This is due to hot air balloons having to fly within the first hour of sunrise. As the flying area is located in a remote area of the Okavango Delta, which is only accessible by air, charter flights are unable to reach the area in time for the balloons take-off at sunrise.
There are four Camps in, and around, the flying area, each offering water and land based activities throughout the year. Camps are reached by a 40 minute flight from Maun, or a 1 hour flight from Kasane. Transfer times from the Camps to the balloon safari will vary depending on the launch site being used. Balloon and accommodation can be booked directly with us. The following accommodation camps are available:
- Kadizora Camp
- Mapula Lodge
- Fallen Baobab Camp
- Kana Kara Camp
