Chobe Chilwero Lodge: Our View

Chilwero means “place of high view” in the local language of Setswana. Chobe Chilwero borders the Chobe National Park, which is the second largest national park in Botswana.

Chobe National Park covers a diversity of landscapes ranging from riverine forests to floodplains and periodic marshlands. The area is home to the largest concentration of elephants in Africa, as well as an abundance of hippo, buffalo, antelope and lion.

Chobe Chilwero is accessible by road and air. Kasane has its own international airport, which is approximately 10 minutes away by road. The lodge is situated above the Chobe River and offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and flood plains as far as Namibia. Accommodation is in 15 air-conditioned cottages and the main public area includes a lounge and dining room, which are linked to outdoor viewing patios. Chobe Chilwero also boasts the first full spa on the Botswana Safari circuit.

On offer are guided game drives in open-sided 4X4 vehicles that take you to the heart of Africa's largest concentration of elephants. Highly qualified professional guides lead the game drives in customized open 4 x 4 game viewing vehicles. However the best way to see this area and to escape the high number of tourists that come here, is on the Chobe River by specially adapted safari motorboats. (Subject to water levels).
