Entim Mara

Entim Mara: Our View
Entim Mara is a small, intimate, 12-bedroom camp right in the heart of the Masai Mara National Reserve. ‘Entim’ means ‘forest’ in the local Maasai language and it is an appropriate name as the camp nestles in riverine woodland on the east bank of the Mara River. The wildlife viewing in this area is superb all year round with vast open grass plains surrounding the camp. During the migration the wildlife viewing really is spectacular with migration river crossings sometimes happening right next to the camp. You may not even need to leave your room to witness them!
Entim Mara's prime location makes it particularly attractive to keen photographers and Entim has a dedicated iMac Photo Studio where guests can download and edit photos. The guides are also very skilled in finding the best wildlife action and helping clients obtain that perfect shot.
Entim Mara is one of our favourite camps in this popular area of the Masai Mara, offering good quality accommodation, a superb location and competitive prices that make it one of the best options for clients looking for a high quality safari at an affordable price.

Entim Mara: The Details
The 12 tented rooms at Entim Mara blend perfectly into the surrounding bush and are well spaced apart to afford plenty of privacy. The rooms were totally refurbished in 2019 and now look very smart indeed. Elegantly furnished in a classic safari style with locally made wooden furniture, rugs on the floor and fabrics in earthy colours, all the rooms have en suite bathrooms with flush toilet and showers, as well as private verandas with stunning views. A luxurious in-camp Spa offers a range of rejuvenating pampering options too, at an additional cost.
The communal areas consist of a lounge tent and dining tent. These are luxuriously furnished in a similar style to the rooms, with leather sofas, chunky wooden coffee tables, and African artwork. In front of the tents is a fire pit which is the perfect place to relax in the evenings. It is the location of the camp that is really special though and the rooms and the communal areas are designed to take full advantage of that. They all face onto the Mara River with fantastic views over the surrounding grass plains full of wildlife. We love the genuine bush setting of this camp and the fact that you are right in amongst the wildlife. The camp is unfenced so wild animals can pass through at any time. At night you are likely to be serenaded by the sounds of lions roaring or hyenas calling. You really do feel like you are on safari all the time here!
Activities focus on daily game drives in Land Cruisers with open roofs. The moment you leave the camp you are amongst the wildlife and are sure to have amazing sightings. During the migration season guests at Entim Mara will be right in the middle of all the action, with the migration herds all around the camp and crossing the Mara River close to the camp. As well as game drives Entim offers guided cultural visits to local Maasai communities at a small additional cost. They also own their own hot air balloon company and can easily arrange balloon trips for you, also at an additional cost.
