Khwai Guest House: Our view
Khwai Guest House is located on the north side of the Moremi Game Reserve in the NG 19 concession, about 2.5 km from the Khwai River Bridge in the rural village of Khwai. On the opposite side of Khwai Guest House is the Moremi Game Reserve and Mopane Tongue.
Khwai Guest House can be reached by vehicle or by means of a small aircraft. Distance from Maun is 100km (about 2-3 hours drive); distance from Kasane is 210km (about 5 - 6 hours drive). A 4x4 vehicle is absolutely necessary for all self-drive options. The Khwai River Airstrip is about 3 km from Khwai Guest House. A road transfer from and to Maun is possible on request.
Khwai Guest House is the first guesthouse situated reasonably close to the safari areas along the Khwai River and Moremi Game Reserves. The Khwai Guest House is open all year round and can also be booked exclusively. The main house with restaurant, bar, lounge and communal kitchen is suitable for self-catering clients.
Khwai Guesthouse offers 6 double chalets for a maximum of 12 guests. The solid thatched bungalows (about 20 m²) offer a small veranda and are equipped with either a double bed or two single beds, a private bathroom, toilet inside with lockable door, sink and an outdoor shower with hot and cold running water.
Activities on offer include morning, late afternoon or night game drives (half day or full day), guided bushwalks and mokoro outings (seasonal) as well as excursions to the local communities. Game drives are undertaken mainly in the NG 19 concession, as well as occasionally in the Moremi Game Reserve. The animal-rich Moremi Game Reserve and the surrounding area are home to a large variety of animals such as elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, occasionally wild dogs, red moor antelopes, reedbucks, giraffes, hippos, blue wildebeests, waterbuck and impala. Birding on the Khwai River is excellent and many different species can be observed.

This is an intimate camp of only 6 chalets, where travellers can choose to come and go as they wish or enjoy the communal safari atmosphere. There is a restaurant on site serving simple but tasty food. Experienced local guides conduct game drives and night drives on both the Khwai and Moremi game reserves, as well as community tours in the nearby village.
