Old Drift Lodge: Our View

The newly built Old Drift Lodge, situated 7kms up river from Victoria Falls town on the banks of the Zambezi River in the Zambezi National Park, is a step back in time with a wonderfully luxurious twist.  The Old Drift gets its name from its historic location, where in the old days cattle traders and explorers used this particular area to cross the mighty Zambezi River during periods of low water.  The main areas of the lodge are tastefully decorated with memorabilia of those days. This all adds to the gorgeous atmosphere of the place.

The 14 suites, all situated on the banks of the Zambezi, are spaced well apart, affording guests privacy to enjoy their private plunge pool, outdoor claw footed bath, and outdoor shower.  The suites are all air-conditioned, with a well stocked mini bar, and are so luxurious it’s hard to leave one's room!  The cuisine is outstanding, and the staff incredibly friendly and accessible.  There are also 2 family suites. This property is also an outstanding honeymoon option.

Old Drift Lodge: The Details

Situated within the Zambezi National Park, and a 7km boat ride from town, The Old Drift offers the visitor on site game viewing options, as well as tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Victoria Falls town, particularly the incessant buzz of the scenic helicopters.  The lodge activities include a guided tour of the Falls, game viewing by motorboat and 4x4 open land cruiser vehicles. Walking is also offered. Although they may not have the density of wildlife such as is found at the Chobe, the Park is increasing its wildlife populations all the time thanks to effective anti-poaching efforts. One can see elephant, hippo, buffalo, lion, wild dog and much more. The price of The Old Drift compares very well with the more expensive Botswana lodges in the same level of luxury, making it a very affordable add on to any Botswana holiday.
