Camp Xakanaxa: Our View

Camp Xakanaxa is located in the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta. This camp is the middle of the three adjacent lodges in a stunning location right by the Khwai River and Xakanaxa lagoon

It offers the best of both worlds, where guests can go on boats rides, but also enjoy fabulous game drives.

This is one of the best and oldest camps in this area, with experienced and long standing staff. The camp accommodates up to 24 guests in 12 tents, including a family tent. Each tent is tastefully furnished with twin or double beds and en-suite facilities.

The tents are situated at the water’s edge with private viewing decks and comfortable loungers overlooking the lagoon. The dining room, lounge, fire deck and plunge pool are raised on wooden platforms with views over the waters of the Delta. The camp also offers a larger swimming pool.

The game drives in this part of the Moremi go through thick mopane forests and across lush savannah. Birding in the area is excellent, especially in the spring and summer months. To the north are the world famous heronries of Gudigwa and Gobega, which attract large numbers of breeding storks and herons.

In this area you have good chances of seeing the Big 5 on your game drives.

The diverse habitat ensures prolific sightings of Elephant, Buffalo, Hyena, Giraffe, Hippo, Wildebeest, Kudu, Lechwe, Lion and Leopard, among many others. Birding is spectacular, especially in the spring and summer months when the migrants are breeding.
