Swala Tented Safari Camp: The Details 

Swala Tented Camp in the depths of Tarangire National Park is a  picturesque camp in the heart of a grove of giant Acacia trees. The eco-friendly design of Swala Camp means low impact on the natural surrounding environment, yet its contemporary design coupled with modern luxury is unequivocally African.

Sanctuary Swala Tented Camp has twelve en-suite luxury tented rooms and a thatched safari lodge with dining deck, lounge and small library cossetted under the branches of a giant Baobab tree.

After a long hot day exploring the African bush and taking in the sights an infinity pool overlooking the waterhole abundant with wildlife and an almost guaranteed viewing of elephants awaits you.

Each suite at Swala Tented Camp stands separately with a deck wrapping around the front and sides of your unashamedly luxurious “canvas pavilion” described as such because of their unique appearance. A popular waterhole is within sight of your room and often you will hear and be greeted by Warthog, Baboon and Antelope in front of your deck, experiencing Africa on your door step.

The individual tents are shaded by mature trees which surround the area. Awaiting you inside is a spacious open plan design with a large king size bed or twin beds, an en-suite bathroom and the added experience of showering under the stars with an indoor and outdoor shower.  Each unique room has a veranda which allows you to enjoy a private dinner while sipping your cocktails and watching the animals at the nearby waterhole under the night sky.

The trees give shade and privacy. The main lodge is raised on stilts so you can gaze onto a classic Tanzania savanna, dotted with acacia trees and an unusual abundance of Baobab trees. You’ll get a chance to observe great herds of elephant and a myriad other game on customised open safari vehicles. There’s a window seat for everyone on the game drive. The lack of surrounding lodges promises an uninterrupted view and privacy.
