Linyanti Ebony Camp: Our View

Situated adjacent to Linyanti Bush Camp, Linyanti Ebony is in a private concession on the banks of Linyanti Marsh which borders the western boundary of Chobe in the Chobe Enclave. The Marshes are the only water source for miles around and attract water-adapted and desert-adapted wildlife, as well as large numbers of birdlife. The marshes also offer the ability to undertake diverse activities.

Linyanti Ebony is a small tented camp with a choice of three twin-bedded tents and one family room, all built on elevated decking affording stunning views of the endless vistas and lagoons of the Linyanti River system. The well–appointed tents all have en-suite facilities with a shower and flushing toilet, a comfortable sofa with a writing desk, chest of drawers and a cupboard. The Camp can be booked exclusively with a minimum of eight people, and is open year round. The camp’s main dining and lounge area is complemented by its own splash pool. Linyanti Bush Camp and Linyanti Ebony Camp can be booked together on request for groups of up to 20 people.

The wildlife viewing in this area is generally very good, including large herds of elephant and buffalo, especially in the dry season. The critically endangered Wild Dog is also a species often seen in this area. We nearly missed our flight from Linyanti Ebony because of the huge herds of Elephant blocking the sand “road” to the sand airstrip.

The complimentary helicopter excursion that is often available when booking this camp is an absolute delight. Our Swedish pilot took us on a huge loop of the Linyanti. The helicopter is a surprisingly stable platform for wildlife viewing but it gets quite exciting when swooping down over splashing hippo, buffalo, giraffe, crocodile and other wildlife in the marshes and dry area surrounding Linyanti Ebony.
