Okuti

Okuti: Our View
This delightful camp lies alongside the Maunachira River which flows through Xakanaxa Lagoon within the world renowned Moremi Game Reserve. Okuti is built amidst the wilderness of one of Botswana’s prime game viewing regions. Okuti draws its influence from the water that flows in front of the camp. With its abundant birdlife, fish and sandy river banks, Okuti remains an oasis of serenity and peacefulness.
Okuti comprises of five twin-bedded Mosasa (ancient tribal word for house of reeds), each with en-suite bathroom, indoor and outdoor shower, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. The honeymoon unit features a double bed, bathtub, indoor and outdoor shower. An additional two family units consist of two bedrooms which share spacious bathroom facilities – ideal for families in this child-friendly camp. Okuti’s spacious curved Mosasas are located on raised teak decks with river views.
Guests can experience unhindered views in specially-designed safari vehicles limited to 4 guests per vehicle. Moremi Game Reserve is rich in wildlife, and its consistent year-round game viewing makes it ideal for first time visitors to Botswana. Guests can also explore the Okavango Delta waterways by motorboat, in our opinion the best thing about Okuti. The area's open lagoons and winding channels make it a birder’s paradise, complete with herons and storks in the breeding season.

Okuti: The Details
Okuti is literally situated a stone’s throw from permanent water, which allows for sublime water based activities. We were greeted by a frolicking Cape Clawless Otter and motored through the most beautiful waterways of the Okavango Delta. If there is a paradise, it will look like this!
Because Okuti is in a National Game Reserve, night driving and offroad driving is not permitted. However we feel that the stunning location of Okuti and the guarantee of motoring through the Delta waterways makes up for this, especially when combined with another camp in a private reserve. The Moremi Game Reserve is home to some of Botswana’s densest wildlife populations, particularly in the dry (high) season. During Green Season, Okuti can be very good value for money too.
