Entamanu Ngorongoro: Our View

There is surely no truer way to appreciate the magnitude and wonder of the Ngorongoro Crater, than from Entamanu Ngorongoro. This simple and authentic tented camp is located right on the rim of the NgorongoroCrater. A highland camp is designed to be entirely removable with minimal impact on this precious place and offers a very exclusive Crater experience. It offers a great alternative to other mass market lodges or overpriced designer lodges along the Crater rim.

With its own little microhabitat, the NgorongoroCrater includes a variety of small ecosystems, a saline lake, swamps, plains and forests - and all this supports a population of about 25,000 mammals and an impressive number of bird species. Most of the wildlife never leaves the Crater floor and it has a well-earned reputation as one of the most epic wildlife experiences in Africa. It can get busy with vehicles on the Crater floor, but Entamanu’s location on the rim means you can beat most of the crowds onto the crater floor in the mornings, and retreat back to your remote corner of wilderness to explore on foot or venture further afield to the less famous but equally impressive sites such as Empakai and Ol Moti Crater. 

Activities include game drives in the Crater, and walking the highlands of the crater rim. You may enjoy dropping round to see your Maasai neighbours, who are living a largely traditional life in the boma in the next valley and still grazing their cattle in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It will be just you and them, and a warm welcome, with insights into the pastoral life;  from building huts to warrior ceremonies.

Entamanu Ngorongoro is tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable without being over the top. With only seven double heated tented rooms and two family suites, Entamanu Ngorongoroguarantees a very private exclusive experience. The accommodations are constructed from stretched canvas, all with commanding views across the Ngorongoro Crater. All the rooms have en suite facilities, with hot and cold running water, double basins and flush toilets. Children from 8 years are welcome, and the family suites each have two large bedrooms.
