Vumbura Plains Camp
Vumbura Plains Camp: Our View
Vumbura Plains Camp is located on the excellent Vumbura Concession to the north of the Okavango Delta.
This is a mainly dry safari area which has a deserved reputation for superb wildlife viewing and guiding.
Accommodation is split between two separate camps, Vumbura North and Vumbura South with seven rooms each. Both camps are modernly designed and very focused on top quality accommodation. Both camps have luxury tented rooms with private facilities and a private plunge pool for every room.
All 14 of the luxury rooms are raised off the ground on wooden platforms with walkways connecting them to the main living areas. Each room has a large, very comfortable bedroom, a lounge, a "sala" and en-suite facilities with a shower, as well as a flush toilet and an outdoor shower. The main dining area and lounge are nestled among indigenous trees with wonderful views out across the floodplain.
Game activities at the camps include expert guided night and day drives in open 4x4 and walking safaris, mokoro (dug-out canoes) and conventional motorboat trips to view the water-based wildlife. The landscape around Vumbura hosts both wetland and savannah animal species. The bird watching in this area of Moremi is excellent and fishing trips are popular. Red lechwe, waterbuck, hippos, crocodiles, as well as sable, kudu, wildebeest and tsessebe roam the open plains. Herds of Buffalo and Elephant can be seen here, along with the predators like lion, leopard, wild dog and cheetah.
