Elephant Sands: Our View

Elephant Sands is situated 53km North of Nata towards Kasane. This lodge is one of Botswana's well-kept secrets. Although the lodge mainly caters for a budget and camping market, a stay here will for sure exceed your expectations. It is well worth stopping and spending some time here on your way to the Falls, the Okavango Delta or the Kalahari.

Elephant Sands is positioned on a 16 000 hectare private conservancy and enjoys plenty of wildlife all year around. As the name of the lodge gives away, elephants are the main attraction here. They can be seen at any time of the day and often come right up to the pool for a drink, even with people still in the pool cooling down from the heat of the day. There were a number of huge elephants just standing around the lodge when we arrived!

The 8 chalets are small, but tastefully decorated and look quite inviting. They all have ensuite toilets and showers, with all the essentials that are needed. 20 ensuite tents are also available.

Elephant Sands: The Details

Elephant Sands offers dinners are served in a buffet style and tastefully prepared by their Zambian chef. We all had second helpings, with says a lot for our bunch. The main aspect of the lodge is the outstanding hospitality we experienced here by Ben and his family, who run this place.

Game drives in a 4x4 are on offer in the morning and late afternoon around the conservancy or on request at any other time. Trips from here to the salt pans can also be organised.
